After Zack Snyder's Daughter Autumn Dies By Suicide, Who Takes Over ‘Justice League’ Superhero Movie?
Autumn Snyder, daughter of prominent filmmaker Zack Snyder, died by suicide March 12. Her death prompted her father to step down from his duty and take a break from his on-going project “Justice League”, reports said Tuesday.
Her death is being investigated as a possible case of suicide due to the excessive intake of medicines found in her report. The cause of her death has not been officially revealed as investigators are awaiting toxicology results.

The 20-year-old attended Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, New York. She loved “to write, to write, to write,” Snyder's current wife Deborah said recalling her late stepdaughter. Autumn had written a scientific-fiction fantasy novel, which the Snyders hope to get published someday, with the profits going to charity, the Hollywood Reporter reported.
“In the end, she didn’t make it, but her character does, and I think there would be something cathartic for people,” Snyder told the Hollywood Reporter when asked about his daughter’s novel.
Thinking about his daughter’s writing skills, the 51-year-old filmmaker recalled a memory and said that his daughter always included popular author Chuck Palahniuk’s quote in everything she wrote. It read, “We all die. The goal isn't to live forever; the goal is to create something that will.”
Autumn, one of Snyder’s eight children, was from his first marriage to Denise Weber that ended in divorce. Of his eight children, Snyder has four kids from his first marriage and two from his second relationship with Kirsten Elin, although the pair never married. Snyder and his current wife Deborah have adopted two children. His son Eli Snyder too is from the film fraternity.
“In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was the way through it. The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all-consuming. And in the last two months, I’ve come to the realization,” an emotional Snyder told the Hollywood Reporter in an interview Monday.
“I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time,” he said.
“I want the movie to be amazing, and I’m a fan, but that all pales pretty quickly in comparison. I know the fans are going to be worried about the movie, but there are seven other kids that need me. In the end, it’s just a movie. It’s a great movie. But it’s just a movie,” he said during the interview.
After Snyder’s exit, director Joss Whedon is expected to work on the superhero movie, a source close to the production team said Monday. Snyder’s incomplete project, "Justice League," will hit theaters November 17, as scheduled, the report stated.
