'Agent Carter' Season 2 Spoilers: Peggy's New Love Interest May Not Be A 'Hunk'

There will be a new love interest in Peggy's life in “Agent Carter” Season 2, and the executive producers of the show revealed what the new man in her life will be like in a recent interview. Hayley Atwell (Peggy) had previously teased that there may be more than one person that her character will be romantically involved with in the next season.

Speaking to ComicBookResources, executive producer Michele Fazekas pointed out that Peggy’s new romantic interest needs to be different from Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Executive producer Chris Dingess explained that the protagonist had fallen in love with Steve before he became Captain America and at that time he was very skinny.

Dingess said that when the team was considering a new character that Peggy can fall in love with, they were looking at finding the same qualities as Steve. The new character may not be a “hunk of a guy with a shield,” Dingess said, emphasizing that the more important qualities are “what’s inside.”

Executive producer Tara Butters said they wanted to make sure that the new love interest of Peggy in “Agent Carter” Season 2 is different from Steve. “It's not that she's going to fall for the same guy all the time. So it's fun to sort of think about who would that be,” Butters said.

In a previous interview with TVLine, Atwell said there may be more than one love interest for Peggy in the next season. The story will move from New York City to Los Angeles next year and Atwell revealed that Peggy will travel to the new city and join Jarvis (James D’Arcy) after being given a new assignment. Jarvis will be there to help Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) start his own movie studio.

A report by TheMarySue notes that the repeated use of male pronouns for Peggy’s new love interest suggests that there may not be any Peggy and Angie (Lyndsy Fonseca) pairing in “Agent Carter” Season 2. The appearance of Angie in the next season hasn’t been confirmed by the producers, but Butters did tease that “some familiar faces” may be seen next year.
