  • Grealish's current focus is on helping Aston Villa escape relegation this season
  • His transfer fee is expected to be around $93 million
  • Man Utd are placed fifth in the Premier League table

The agent of one of Manchester United’s top targets, Jack Grealish, has said his client is currently going to fully focus on helping Aston Villa escape relegation in the remainder of the 2019-20 Premier League season.

Despite Aston Villa’s struggles in this campaign, Grealish has attracted several clubs’ attention by scoring seven goals and providing six assists in the Premier League. Overall, he has scored nine goals in 39 matches across all competitions.

Since Grealish had admitted that he would want to move away from his boyhood club irrespective of their result at the end of the ongoing season, Man Utd have kept a tab on the midfielder.

Former Aston Villa striker Kevin Phillips earlier had insisted that even though Grealish would want to be “one of those Steven Gerrards” and spend his entire career at Villa, an interest from Man Utd would be too good to turn down.

With Jadon Sancho’s deal still hung in the air ahead of the summer transfer window, it was understood that Man Utd were planning to step up their efforts in securing Grealish’s services as soon as possible. Moreover, Grealish’s reported transfer fee of $93 million is less than Sancho’s expected price of $124 million or more labeled by Bundesliga’s Dortmund.

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to strengthen his squad, especially in the midfielder. He has identified Grealish as a great partner for Bruno Fernandes in the middle line. The Norwegian manager had earlier said the club was just two or three signings away from once again challenging for the Premier League title, which they last won in 2013.

Even Man Utd legend Ryan Giggs has admitted that Grealish would be a perfect fit in the Red Devils side. “If a quality player like [Grealish] comes available, United are going to be [interested],” Giggs recently told Premier League Productions.

However, Grealish’s agent Jonathan Barnett, in a recent interview, has claimed that discussions over the Aston Villa captain’s future will go underway only after the current season has ended.

“Jack is the captain of Aston Villa, his first priority at the moment is to make sure that they survive in the Premiership,” he said in response to a question about United's interest. “Until that is sorted out, we don’t have the discussion."

"He’s got his priorities right, he has a job and that’s what he’s going to do, he’s going to fight hard for Aston Villa,” said Barnett while speaking on "The Ornstein & Chapman Podcast".
