'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 2 To Return In March; 'Agent Carter' Premiere Date Released
There is good news and bad news for Marvel fans. The good news is that “Marvel’s Agent Carter” Season 1 finally has a premiere date. Unfortunately, that means “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 is going on a long winter hiatus.
“Marvel’s Agent Carter” Season 1 premieres on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 9 p.m. EST on ABC, TV Guide reports. The new show follows Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), whom fans know as Captain America’s former flame and one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s founders. It takes place in 1946, a time when the government wasn’t willing to trust female agents. Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), however, knows what Peggy is capable of. When Stark’s weapons are stolen, he puts Peggy on a mission to track them down and sends his butler Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy) to help her. The new sneak peek showed that Jarvis might not be prepared for the life of a secret agent.
It seems that the historical show will run uninterrupted for all eight episodes and air its finale on Feb. 24. While this is great for “Marvel’s Agent Carter” fans, it means a long hiatus for “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” fans. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 will air a midseason finale on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 9 p.m. EST on ABC, according to TV Line. It won’t return until Tuesday, March 3, at 9 p.m. EST, after “Marvel’s Agent Carter” Season 1 has finished. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 previously featured Agent Carter in the season premiere, and viewers will see her again before her own show starts. She’ll appear in episode 8, but details about her appearance are being kept quiet.
While the older show is taking an extended hiatus, this move probably means fewer reruns in the spring. Expect the second half of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 to have very few interruptions.
