Phil Coulson is not completely oblivious. On last week’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Rosalind (Constance Zimmer) was revealed to have ties to Hydra, right after spending the night with Coulson (Clark Gregg). However, the director might not get his heart broken. In the sneak-peek videos for Season 3, episode 8, he makes it clear that he is using the ATCU leader.

Sneak Peek No. 1

Coulson brings Rosalind to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s secret base and shows her some of his gadget collection. “I bet there’s a story behind each one of these that I’d love to hear,” Rosalind tells him.

She asks him about his recruitment and he explains that he was studying history and realized how much S.H.I.E.L.D. shaped American history. However, the director is more interested in Rosalind’s stories. He doesn’t believe she doesn’t know any other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

Rosalind claims that she has only known other agents “in passing,” and Coulson tells her that she can be totally honest. “I hate to disappoint you Phil,” she says. “But until recently I was in the normal intelligence game, not paranormal. You’re my first.”

Sneak Peek No. 2

Coulson makes it clear to his team that they are officially investigating the ATCU. He launches “Operation Spotlight” and assigns agents specific duties. They’ll use Andrew’s (Blair Underwood) containment as an opportunity to gain access.

Bobbi (Adrianne Palicki) and Hunter (Nick Blood) team up, and Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and Mack (Henry Simmons) are their back up. May (Ming-Na Wen) is handling extraction, but she doesn’t let Coulson pick her partner. She says that she is taking Lincoln (Luke Mitchell).

“Okay, I guess new guy will gain a firsthand look of our operations with Agent May,” Coulson says. Lincoln looks terrified.

Daisy looks concerned about the choice, but she decides to ask Coulson why he is launching this investigation now. “Because I think the head of the ATCU finally trusts me,” he explains. “I’d like the feeling to be mutual.”
