The honeymoon won’t last long for May and Andrew on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3. Although Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) was reunited with her ex-husband, Andrew (Blair Underwood), in the Season 2 finale, the couple will still have differences. However, they’ll suddenly be on opposite sides of an old fight.

When Andrew first appeared, he didn’t trust S.H.I.E.L.D., but it seems he is fine with the organization now. It’s his ex-wife who has an issue. “What's interesting is that May is now disgruntled by S.H.I.E.L.D., but last season when May came to Andrew with the idea of coming back to S.H.I.E.L.D., he was disgruntled and had left the agency," Underwood told TV Guide. "But now he's back working with them and the Inhumans.”

Andrew’s sudden dedication to Coulson’s team of Inhumans, the Secret Warriors, might actually help convince May to stick around. “[May discovered] that there was definitely a lot of corruption at S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as uncertainty now with the Inhumans being brought in by Coulson,” Wen explained. “It's going to be figuring out her final decision in Season 3 and I think Andrew will probably play a part in it.”

Before Wen started filming Season 3, she teased that May would struggle with going back to Coulson and the team. “You see May needing to take a break, take a little vacation, and trying to figure out her personal life with Andrew that she almost gave up,” she told Seat42F in July. “I think Andrew was the love of her life and to have him come back into her world, it’s going to be a struggle for her between that and going into S.H.I.E.L.D. Because as much as she is a soldier and willing to do anything for S.H.I.E.L.D., I think there is a part of her that is questioning who is right and who is not right.”

It isn’t clear exactly how long May’s vacation from S.H.I.E.L.D. has lasted. As previously reported, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 will feature a time jump. She may have taken a long sabbatical from the organization if she is still adjusting when the season begins.
