‘Agents Of SHIELD’ Season 6 Spoilers: Premiere Synopsis, Video And Photos Revealed
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is finally returning to ABC. After almost a full year on hiatus, the first MCU TV show is coming back. However, it’s a whole new world for the agents.
“Scattered across the galaxy, the team works to find their footing in the wake of losing Coulson,” the Season 6 premiere synopsis says.
That’s not much information, but luckily, a sneak-peek video shows a little more about that “scattered across the galaxy” bit. The clip, which is from the beginning of Friday’s premiere, shows Davis (Maximilian Osinski) landing a spaceship with Piper (Briana Venskus) on a new planet.
An alien pops onto their screen to tell them that they’re in violation of some galactic ordinance. He boards their ship and meets Daisy (Chloe Bennet) who has been waiting for them. She says she’s unarmed and they scan her face. The leader seems to think she is some spoiled brat who has landed on his planet, but his tone changes after the facial scan results come in. “Quake,” he says.
His minions abandon him after Daisy quakes apart their guns. She easily pins the leader down on the ground. That’s when Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) comes out to say he’s going to give them what they want. She says they’re looking for someone.
“Someone else to shake down or someone you want to eliminate?” he asks.
“We just want to bring him home,” Simmons says.
She’s clearly talking about Fitz (Iain De Caestecker). He died during a battle last season, but a past version of himself was in a cryostasis chamber to save his friend several decades in the future. Now that they know the past can be changed without altering their present, they know that they can bring Fitz out of stasis. First, however, they’ll have to find him.
They clearly aren’t expecting to find Coulson (Clark Gregg), who had accepted his fate at the end of last season. “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 6 will pick up a year after the last season finale, meaning they’ve had some time to get used to Coulson’s death. Still, it’ll be a shock when one of the bad guys has his face.
Gregg won’t be in many premiere scenes, but his fingerprints are all over the episode. The star directed Season 6, episode 1.
The premiere, titled “Missing Pieces,” will not address “Avengers: Infinity War” or “Endgame.” Though its year-long time jump indicates that the events of the Snap should still be in effect, the core team remains intact and no one mentions half of all living creatures disappearing.
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 6 premieres Friday at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
