‘Agents Of SHIELD’ Spinoff Likely To Star Bobbi And Hunter; 4 Things We Want To See In The New Marvel TV Show
Two “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” newbies may be starring in their own spinoff. Deadline confirmed that Adrianne Palicki (Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird) and Nick Blood (Lance Hunter), who both joined the cast earlier this season, are in negotiations to star in the new show.
As previously reported, “S.H.I.E.L.D.” executive producer Jeffrey Bell and writer Paul Zbyszewski are developing the show, which has not officially been ordered to series yet. However, it will tie in to something that happens in this season's final "S.H.I.E.L.D."episodes.
“Story elements that are still to come on 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' this year will be used to lay the groundwork for the potential new series,” Entertainment Weekly reported. “So by the end of the season – assuming the details for this project haven’t already leaked, which is rather unlikely – the spinoff concept should be clear.”
Bobbi is with the “real S.H.I.E.L.D.,” a group that doesn’t believe in Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) leadership, while Hunter is with Coulson attempting to track down Skye (Chloe Bennet). It isn’t clear how the formerly married Bobbi and Hunter would leave the series together. Even though we don’t know much about the show, we still have a list of things we’d like to see:
Flashbacks – Bobbi and Hunter spend a lot of time talking about their past and how Hunter can’t trust Bobbi, but we've never actually seen any of their history. The “S.H.I.E.L.D.” writers have had a lot of fun with flashbacks this season, and the spinoff could definitely employ a few. What did their relationship look like when they trusted each other?
Hawkeye – Fans still don’t know if Mockingbird has had a relationship with Hawkeye (played by Jeremy Renner in the "Avengers" films). They were married in the comic books, and while it’s clear that the show doesn’t always follow the graphic novels, many viewers would like to know if they share a past at all. Even if Renner isn’t up for guest-starring, at least a mention would be nice. After all, we’re sure the writers will want to make sure audiences see that the show connects to the “Avengers” films.
Romance – Sorry, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” but Bobbi and Hunter’s relationship is seriously lacking in the romance department. They got together after a big fight, and they broke up after Bobbi revealed she was working against Coulson. They’ve never really had a quiet moment where it just seemed like they liked being around each other. If the series is going to center on the on-again, off-again couple, we’ll need to see them actually develop a relationship – not just fight about how they can’t trust each other.
Superheroes – Mockingbird doesn’t have to be the only superhero on the show. With hundreds of heroes to choose from, we’d love to see an underappreciated one like She-Hulk, Moon Knight or Firebird introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe via the new Marvel TV show.
