KEY POINTS

  • Ryanair airlines got involved in the U.S. presidential fervor Wednesday with a tweet chiding Donald Trump for declaring early victory
  • They also took a jab at Kanye West, whose presidential run hasn't had much of an impact
  • Before the election, Ryanair's Twitter account joined in with liberals making fun of Donald Trump Jr. for a humorous election map that for some reason showed Liberia, the Black Sea and Antarctica as Democratic districts

A new challenger has waded into the debate around the 2020 presidential election: Ryanair. The Twitter account for the Ireland-based airline took aim at both Kanye West and Donald Trump’s attempt to declare victory before all the votes had been counted.

Trump has maintained that he is on track to win the presidency despite votes still being counted in counties where Joe Biden is favored. Trump declared a “BIG WIN” around 1 a.m. ET on Wednesday, and began a steady stream of accusations alleging misconduct around polling places.

Ryanair saw an opportunity to raise its public profile while taking a jab at the president.

It also took aim at West, whose long-shot presidential campaign and warm relationship with Trump has been the subject of ridicule.

West has failed to have much of an impact on the presidential election, appearing on the ballot in only 12 states after a series of legal challenges and procedural blunders. He managed to place 4th in many states but didn’t garner over 0.4%.

West remained positive on Twitter, focusing just on the personal victory of voting for himself.

This isn’t the first time Ryanair has gotten involved in U.S. politics. Ryanair touched on an unusual electoral map that was tweeted out by Donald Trump Jr.

The map was mocked by Twitter users because it included Antarctica.
