AirPods Max Reviews And First Impressions: Good Quality But Not The Best

Apple is already shipping the new AirPods Max to buyers, and many of them have revealed their impressions and thoughts about the company’s new audio accessory. What are people saying about it?

Various consumers and tech sites have already released first impressions and early reviews of the new AirPods Max. While their opinions and reviews vary, they seem to have one major theme that’s common among them: it’s good, but it’s not necessarily the best there is.

Here’s a quick look at some reviews for the new AirPods Max premium headphones from Apple:

Build

MacRumors forums member Boardiesboi noted how the new AirPods Max is of “premium quality.” The forum member said the $549 audio accessory is “very well made” and that its use of stainless steel sets is apart from Sony and Bose’s offerings. It’s about $200 to $250 more expensive anyway, so it better be.

Audio Quality

Per CNet, the AirPods Max sounds impressive. It offers clear, refined output that doesn’t get distorted at high volume levels. It has a wide soundstage and offers sound quality that can be expected of $500 headphones.

Some users, however, may prefer other wireless headphones such as Sony’s WH-1000XM4 or Bose’s Noise Canceling Headphones 700 when listening to music or taking calls – especially if they’re not using Apple devices. These sound better depending on the user’s preference, such as whether they like more booming bass or not.

It also is worth noting that the AirPods Max lacks some ”audiophile features” such as support for aptX, aptX HD or LDAC. Audiophiles also might not like its sound profile.

Comfort

MacRumors forums member Moriarty noted how the AirPods Max’s earcups are “deep and spacious” and are able to accommodate ears comfortably, adding that this feature hasn’t received enough attention from other headphone makers.

Another forum member, LongWayHome, on the other hand, noted that while the AirPods Max sounds good, they are heavy and users might feel the weight after wearing it for a long time.

Carrying Case

Various consumers, including CNet’s reviewer, tend to give mixed opinions regarding the AirPods Max Smart Case. While it does have its features, its looks have been the subject of much ridicule. Some have also deemed it “awful” and “useless.”
