AirPods Replacement Price: Apple Releases Warranty Information

If you lose an AirPod, you’ll have to pay a fee for a replacement, Apple says.

The company published on its site warranty information for the new wireless earphones that went on sale Tuesday. The AirPods were announced during Apple’s September event alongside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The earpods were supposed to launch in October but the release date was delayed.

The AirPods, which come with a charging case, are currently priced at $159.

If a user loses an AirPod he or she can purchase a replacement for $69, Apple says. The price is the same for losing a charging case. Apple says it will cover issues including defective batteries on the AirPods and the charging cases under its One Year Limited Warranty, or at $49 out of warranty. If a user’s battery decreases over time, it can be replaced for the specified fee.

Apple explains more on the AirPods:

“If you need service for your AirPods or charging case, there's no charge if the issue is covered under the Apple One Year Limited Warranty or consumer law.

Our warranty covers a defective battery, but it doesn’t cover wear from normal use. If the battery capacity on your AirPods or charging case decreases over time, you can replace them for a battery service fee.

If your AirPods or charging case get damaged accidentally, you can pay an out-of-warranty fee. And if you lose an AirPod or your charging case, we can replace your lost item for a fee.”

AirPods are priced at $159 and will begin arriving in Apple stores, Apple Authorized Resellers and select carriers next week.

When the AirPods went on sale earlier this week, Apple noted that the AirPods will begin shipping in “limited quantities” at launch, which was rumored before. The earphones will take six weeks to ship, the site currently says.

“Customers are encouraged to check online for updates on availability and estimated delivery dates. Stores will receive regular AirPod shipments,” Apple said.
