Aishwarya Rai Baby Shower; Actress Expecting in November

Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai has had her baby shower, or godh bharai.

The baby shower took place on Tuesday and was hosted by Rai's mother-in-law, Jaya Bachchan.

A source spoke with The Times of India and gave them some of the details, including how Bachchan and her daughter were calling friends themselves to invite them to the baby shower.

The senior Bachchans are thrilled about Abhishek and Ash's first child and their third grandchild and wanted to make it special, the source said, TOI reported. They want everyone to take part in the celebration.

Rai's father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan, was out of town filming Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, CNN's Indian Broadcasting Network (CNN-IBN) reported. He will be playing the role of Meyer Wolfsheim, according to IMDB.com.

Rai's makeup was done by Mickey Contractor, India Glitz reported.

Celebrities who attended the event included Bipasha Basu and Asha Parekh.

I have never seen so many celebrity women together, said choreographer Saroj Khan, who also attended, BollywoodWorld.com reported. All the women went up to Aishwarya and blessed her. Jayaji received each guest personally and was very warm. Even her daughter, Shweta, gave personal attention to everyone. There were a lot of songs and celebration.

Rai will have a smaller, more private baby shower with her own family, TOI reported.

Ash will go to her mother's house and the Rais will follow their own customs and traditions, but that will an intimate gathering of close friends and family members only, the source told TOI.

Rai's husband tweeted his thanks to well-wishers.
