Akon Blasts Beyoncé and Jay Z’s Secretive Marriage: ‘It Feels Corporate’

Akon can likely say goodbye to any Jay Z or Beyoncé features on his upcoming album after the singer and producer offered his opinion on the divorce rumors surrounding one of entertainment’s biggest couples. In the last few months, Bey and Jay have been the focus of nonstop chatter about the state of their marriage.

From talk that Jay Z is cheating on the pop star to whispers the pair isn’t communicating backstage during their joint “On the Run” tour this summer, everyone seems to have an opinion on the alleged drama occurring in the Knowles-Carter household. The majority of the divorce talk was sparked after video leaked of the altercation between Jay Z and Beyoncé’s sister Solange Knowles in an elevator as the trio left a Met Gala after party in May. Speaking with TMZ in Washington this week, Akon provided his own theory on what has led to the relentless relationship rumors plaguing the couple.

“Their relationship has been more of a business to the outside world than an actual relationship. Now, to them it may be a relationship, but it was presented to the world and it feels more corporate," he said.

Akon’s comments about the Knowles-Carter's business-focused partnership has been echoed by several of the couple’s fans, with many looking at their “On the Run” tour as just one example of Bey and Jay benefiting financially from their union. And since they've remained fiercely protective of the details of their relationship since they first began dating over 10 years ago, Beyoncé and Jay-Z's marriage has largely remained open to speculation.

The family released a statement on the elevator fight between Jay Z and Solange. However, other than some adorable family photos strategically uploaded to Beyoncé’s Instagram page, the pair have remained silent about the growing divorce rumors.
