  • Lauryn Efird posted a sweet tribute for her younger sister on Instagram
  • Jessica Shannon said Alana will “do amazing things in life”

As Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson turned 16 this week, her sisters Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon-Efird and Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon took the chance to greet her on her special day.

The former “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star celebrated her birthday on Saturday. To mark the occasion, her sisters decided to pay tribute to her on Instagram.

Pumpkin, 21, who has been Alana’s guardian since their mom June “Mama June” Shannon, 42, walked away from their family in 2019, shared a series of photos showing her and her youngest sister through the years. Included in the post was a picture of the sisters flashing big smiles as their controversial matriarch stands in between them.

“16 already? Where did the time go? You’ve grown up on me [in] the blink of [an] eye. I’ve had the pleasure of raising you the last 3 years and I’ve seen the ups and the downs,” Lauryn wrote in the caption.

The mother of two then praised her sibling by saying that she’s “wise beyond years.” She also noted that it’s hard to believe that Alana is already graduating from high school next year.

Lauryn promised her sister that she’d always be there for her. Before concluding her birthday message, Pumpkin, who shares 3-year-old daughter Ella Grace and newborn son Bentley Jameson with 25-year-old husband Josh Efird, lauded Alana for being “the best aunt my kids could ask for (even though you spoil them rotten).”

Jessica, 24, also took to Instagram to wish Alana a happy birthday. She uploaded recent snaps of her younger sibling and wrote a heartwarming message for her.

“HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY. Alana, can’t believe your (sic) already 16, where has the time gone? I know your (sic) going do amazing things in life and your (sic) going [to] make us all proud. Love ya,” she captioned her post.

Ahead of her 16th birthday, Alana sat down for an interview with Teen Vogue and did a photoshoot for the magazine’s latest cover story, which was published Wednesday.

In the interview, Alana called out body shamers, saying she would never understand how they could easily comment on other’s people’s weight and figure just because they do not meet their own subjective standards.

Alana also set the record straight when it comes to her image, saying she’s so far from being that “boisterous little girl” that fans saw in “Toddlers & Tiaras” and she’s no longer holding on to that image as a high schooler.

“My mama did not name me Honey Boo Boo. My name is Alana. They are completely two different people. … I guess people still expect me to be little Honey Boo Boo, and I’m not anymore,” she said.

In addition, Alana addressed Mama June’s drug addiction and the struggles she faced after her mom was arrested in March 2019 for drug-related charges and after the latter abandoned her daughters to be with ex-boyfriend Geno Doak.

“It’s very, very hard,” Alana said, recalling the dark time in her life when Mama June left them. She added that it was “something I’d wish on nobody, for real.”

Aside from Lauryn and Jessica, Alana also has another sister, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, 27, who has been living a more low-profile life with her own family since leaving reality TV after “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” wrapped in 2014.
