At the age of 47, Alex Kirst, the former drummer of Iggy Pop and The Nymphs, has passed away. He was killed in a hit and run incident in
California.

His body was discovered just before midnight near Date Palm and Gerald Ford Drive in Cathedral City, California on January 13th 2011.
Kirst, father of two children, was out to buy a pack of cigarettes.

According to the police, there was no evidence that the vehicle tried to stop. After the accident, the perpetrators immediately ran away
from the scene. Kirst's body was found by the side of the road by a pedestrian two hours later after the accident.

The police are asking the public for any information or report on the hit and run driver.

The Nymphs made an appearance in the 1990 film Bad Influence as a band playing in a club.
