Alex Trebek's 'Jeopardy!' Replacement: The Names Reportedly Being Considered For Hosting Duties
In 2019, beloved "Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Following the announcement, fans of the long-running trivia show began speculating whether or not he would step down from his hosting duties.
In October, production sources revealed that he intended on staying on as long as he could, but now, a new report has suggested that he has started to quietly work behind the scenes in order to find the right replacement.
According to Radar Online, an insider revealed that Trebek's "opinions are very important to everyone making the decision." Due to the fact that the show employs hundreds of people, the source added that they are eager to hear the host's opinions on what the future of "Jeopardy!" could look like.
As for who is at the top of the list, the show is reportedly considering "CBS This Morning" host Gayle King and former "Today" host Ann Curry. Other names that are allegedly being discussed include former champions Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer.
However, for the foreseeable future, Trebek will be fulfilling his "Jeopardy!" hosting duties. Recently, not only did he receive a heartwarming message during a taping in November, but he also led the recent "JEOPARDY! The Greatest of All Time" event, which featured Jennings, Holzhauer, and Brad Rutter.
