Alexa Ray Joel, 23, the daughter of Billy Joel and his former wife Christie Brinkley, has canceled her scheduled performance at the New York Stock Exchange following news that she attempted suicide.

Alexa was scheduled to perform on the NYSE's 86th Annual Tree lighting ceremony on Thursday along Joshua Bell, Billy Ray Cyrus and about ten more artists.

On Saturday Alexa was taken to a New York City hospital after she took eight pills of Traumeel. Police reported the case as a suicide attempt; the New York Post noted citing sources.

The paper says she called 911 on her own after she panicked.

Alexa was released from hospital on Monday and was at her father's house, People Magazine reported today.
