Is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Following A Korean Skincare Routine?
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be known as the youngest female ever to be part of the United States Congress, but internet users have also been watching the Democrat and activist closely for her beauty routine. While Ocasio-Cortez is passionately pushing for medicare for all and an increase in taxes for the rich, among others, people have been noticing how she manages to look so refreshed despite her busy schedule. It’s all thanks to a Korean skincare regimen.
In an Instagram post, the congresswoman finally revealed her meticulous daily skincare routine, with special credit to the Koreans. She started off saying how a “science nerd” like her is very interested in reading different studies about compounds and then moved on to describe what she does exactly every day. While she does not provide brand details, she does give her audience a step-by-step guide on what she does.
The routine starts with double cleansing to get rid of make up and impurities. This is followed by a toner and serum that contains active ingredients and is finished with moisturizer and sunscreen. Ocasio-Cortez’s methods are largely similar to the 10-step Korean beauty routine that has been making the rounds among the top beauty blogs, though she describes her as just three steps. In the same post, she also mentioned that she sometimes includes a face mask and watches her diet closely, cutting out dairy from her consumption. The congresswoman also noted how crucial sunscreen is to her daily routine.
Some of the products that highlighted include a tinted moisturizer or BB cream, mascara, concealer, blush, stick highlighter, lip color and brow gel. When she’s feeling fancy, she said she uses eyeliner, eyeshadow and powder contour. Her skincare products are a combination of expensive and drugstore beauty items.
The Korean beauty regimen is not a new thing and many Hollywood celebrities and top personalities have been swearing by its effectiveness, albeit requires patience and a lot of work (and products). Some of the famous personalities who have admitted to using the K-beauty routine include Lady Gaga, Drew Barrymore, Emma Stone, Jessica Alba and Chrissy Teigen.
Another notable female political icon, Hillary Clinton, admitted previously that she had spent about 600 hours of her life on getting her makeup and hair done during her campaign for the U.S. presidency. She also took note of how much pressure it takes to be a woman in the public eye, compared to her male counterparts who probably do not spend as much on their looks.
