Algeria in world cup after beating Egypt 1-0
Algeria Wednesday joined five other African nations to participate in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa after beating Egypt 1- 0 in Khartoum, Sudan.
Algeria has joined Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and host South Africa on Africa's qualifiers list.
Sudanese authorities had put an additional 15,000 police on duty, with security especially tight in and around Khartoum's Al Merreikh Stadium, where capacity was reduced to 35,000.
Egypt despite being the African champion has failed to qualify for the world cup in twenty years. Algeria last qualified for the world cup in 1986.
