All DLC For 'Dragon Quest Heroes' Coming To The US For Free
Square Enix revealed that the Western version of “Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and The Blight Below” would be getting all of the downloadable content from the Japanese version for free. No downloading will be necessary, as the DLC episodes will already be in the game, and users will merely have to unlock them to access.
Fans will be able to play the game’s DLC episodes after completing the main game and meeting a few conditions. Most of the DLC will be available after beating King Hydra, while the rest has different conditions, according to IGN.
The DLC episodes focus on classic characters from the previous “Dragon Quest” games like Bianca, Nera, Terry, Yangus and Jessica. These will either be extra battles to partake in or unique stories that will still feature a lot of fighting, since the game is mostly a beat-em-up like “Dynasty Warriors.”
These episodes will also have players taking on giant bosses like The Great Demon Lord Zoma from “Dragon Quest III,” Bjorn the Behemoose from “Dragon Quest V” and Nokturnus from “Dragon Quest VI.” It will be interesting to see how the battles against the giant beasts play out, especially with the game’s focus on hack-and-slash action.
Psaro the Manslayer also makes an appearance as a boss, but unlike the other ones, he can be used as a playable character. He must be defeated by the gamer to become a playable character. He is also the only one in the game’s roster, who can equip great swords as a weapon, according to the official Square Enix blog.
Aside from extra stories and bosses, playing through the DLC episodes can also lead to new costumes for certain characters. Completing Alena’s episode, for example, will unlock her original costume from “Dragon Quest IV” and alternate outfits for Tsarevna and Kiryl.
“Dragon Quest Heroes” comes to North America on Oct. 13 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. There are also two versions of the game that fans can preorder -- the Collector’s Edition and Day One Edition. Both versions give players access to an exclusive outfit from “Dragon Quest III.”
