Aly Raisman On 'Dancing With The Stars' Finale: I Will Always Remember 'DWTS'
Aly Raisman once was competing for gold in the 2012 London Summer Olympics, but now the gymnast is looking to win the Mirror Ball trophy on "Dancing With The Stars." She's competing against Kellie Pickler, Jacoby Jones and Zendaya Coleman for season 16's top award.
"I am so excited," the 18-year-old told Us Weekly. "I have worked so hard at this. My goal from the start was to make the finale, so now I just want to enjoy and cherish the last few performances and make tonight a night to remember!" The Olympian performed her last dances with her partner, professional dancer Mark Ballas, on Monday night's episode. The two did a samba, cha cha relay and the free style on the last night, and Raisman admitted to being nervous before her final dances.
She told the celebrity news site how she was nervous before she took the stage Monday night. "I'm normal nervous -- not any more than usual," she said. "Definitely not as nervous as I was for the Olympics. This is just for fun! It's the first time in my life that I am doing something different, so I'd honestly rather enjoy it than anything else."
At the 2012 London games, Raisman took home three medals -- a team gold, an individual gold for floor exercise and a bronze for balance beam. Just because she's having a little fun in her dancing shoes for now doesn't mean she's given up on gymnastics. According to Us Weekly, she'll be headed back into the gym to train for the 2016 Olympics when "DWTS" is over.
"I'll go back to intense training so I'm just taking it all and having fun," she said. "It's definitely exhausting, hard and stressful but I love it so much. I'll remember this for the rest of my life."
Don't miss the finale of "DWTS" on ABC Tuesday at 9/8c.
