Amal Clooney Talks Donald Trump And Her Client Khadija Ismayilova On BBC
Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney is currently representing award-winning Azerbaijan reporter Khadija Ismayilova at the European Court of Human Rights. The latter who was jailed 18 months ago is an outspoken critic of the government. The British-Lebanese barrister was speaking to BBC in an interview on Monday night.
Amal said that she was perplexed by the success of Donald Trump in the race for the White House. The brunette beauty, who is married to Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney, said in a video that the front runner for the Republican presidential nomination should be challenged on his extreme views. The 38-year-old lawyer and her 54-year-old husband have been vocal supporters of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
The A-list couple hosted a gala fundraiser for Clinton this month at their Los Angeles home. Besides, they are also hosting a series of fundraising dinners for her throughout April.
Talking about Ismayilova, Amal said the journalist’s case moved as she was really courageous, inspirational woman, and a young women all of 39 years. The lawyer added that Ismayilova knew very well of working as a reporter in the country where one of her colleagues was gunned down.
“Besides, the idea that the government, Azerbaijan as a member of the Council of Europe, could actually put a reporter behind bars because they didn’t want her to be able to tell the truth made me really angry and I thought perhaps I could help her,” Amal said. She added that her client’s name was not in the list of prisoners who were released. The human rights lawyer looked went official chic in an Oscar de la Renta crop tweed jacket that she paired with a matching skirt.
Amal looked stunning in a sleeveless white silk blouse with the skirt-suit. Her hair was styled in her favorite glossy blowout. She accessorized with drop earrings and for make-up she wore dark brown lipstick, black eyeliner and mascara.
