Amanda Bynes Arrested After Allegedly Throwing Bong Out Of Apartment Window
After months of bizarre behavior, former actress Amanda Bynes was arrested on Thursday night, after reportedly throwing a bong out of her apartment window in front of New York police.
The New York Times reported Thursday that the troubled starlet was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and criminal possession of marijuana. It's not known if the "retired" Nickelodeon actress has a lawyer.
According to the New York Post, staff at the Biltmore Hotel on West 47th street called police Thursday evening with a report that a disorderly person was smoking out of a bong pipe in the hotel’s lobby. When police arrived at the hotel at approximately 7:40 p.m., Bynes reportedly tossed the bong out of the window of her 36th floor apartment, directly in their line of sight. The publication reported that the falling object did not strike anyone.
After the 26-year-old -- who currently has a pending DUI case in California -- was arrested, she was brought to St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, where she underwent a psychiatric examination. Bynes was then brought in to a police station in Midtown, NBC reported.
Though Bynes has repeatedly declared via Twitter that she is doing well and that all media reports to the contrary are false, friends and family members have expressed concern for her over the past year. In a recent interview with ABC News, Bynes’ friend Jonathan Jaxson revealed that he had previously asked police to check on her out of concern she might harm herself. “She started ranting and she was drunk out of her mind," Jaxson said. "She said, ‘I don’t want to live anymore.’”
Bynes’ former “What I Like About You” co-star Jennie Garth also expressed concern for the star, telling reporters that she had tried to reach out to the retired actress but hadn’t gotten a response. “My heart feels for whatever she is going through and I love her dearly,” Garth said.
In her most recent Twitter rant, Bynes lashed out at InTouch for allegedly Photoshopping pictures of her. “They morphed photos of my face onto someone's body to ruin my life! I have to make a big deal of this and sue because that's not me! I care about my appearance, so I have to defend myself!” Bynes tweeted on Thursday. “Just assume that I f---ed the boyfriend of the editor of intouch because they f---ing hate me!"
Over the weekend Bynes was denied entry on a Los Angeles-bound private flight out of Teterboro airport in New Jersey because she didn’t have valid identification. TMZ reported that when the pilot told her she would need backup identification because her license was suspended (due to her DUI), Bynes told him to Google her.
Bynes has not yet commented on her arrest.
