New York Giants' linebacker Greg Jones, 23, got engaged to his college sweetheart Amanda Piechowski, 24, on Sunday night, after his team beat the Patriots, 21-17.

Jones proposed to Piechowski on the confetti-covered Lucas Oil Stadium field as the celebration got under way. His girlfriend was tearful and wearing her Super Bowl attire -- jeans and a blue Giants jersey, none other than No. 53, of course.

She was bawling, Jones told the media on Monday. Just everything we have been through together ... she has been there since day one.

The two met on the Michigan State campus. Jones played football and Piechowski played basketball. Reports are that they began dating about a year ago but have known each other for three years.

According to ESPN, Jones, a rookie, recently purchased the engagement ring -- a round cut diamond ring with several smaller diamonds on the band -- and was waiting for the right time to pop the question.

She definitely knows how I feel. A speech wasn't even needed, Jones said, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
