Amari Cooper is arguably the best wide receiver that’s unsigned for the 2020 NFL season. He would be in line for a major payday in free agency, though the Dallas Cowboys hope Dak Prescott’s favorite target never hits the open market.

Cooper has spent the last one and a half seasons with the Cowboys. He wants to remain in Dallas for the rest of his career.

“I love being a Dallas Cowboy. I love everything about it. I think about it every day,” Cooper said on 105.3 The Fan. “Just the aura of being a Dallas Cowboy, you can't beat it. I want to be a Cowboy for life.”

Cooper has 132 receptions, 1,914 yards and 14 touchdowns in 25 games with the Cowboys. Only Travis Kelce has more receiving touchdowns than Cooper since he was traded to Dallas in October 2018.

Julio Jones is the highest-paid receiver with a $22 million average yearly salary. Michael Thomas has the most lucrative contract at the position with a $96.25 million deal.

Inking Prescott to a new contract is the Cowboys’ top priority this offseason. The quarterback finished the last year of his rookie deal in 2019. If the two sides can’t come to a long-term agreement by March 12, Dallas will use the franchise tag on Prescott.

Prescott set career highs with 4,902 passing yards, 30 touchdown passes and 8.2 yards per attempt in 2019.

“We've built a good relationship so far. From the time I got here, we were able to hit the ground running, and just from my experience in being in the NFL I wouldn't say that's a common thing,” Cooper told 105.3 The Fan, regarding Prescott. “Sometimes you can line up with a quarterback after getting traded or going to a new team, whether it's the draft or whatever, and it not go smooth. And so, I wouldn't try to trade that for anything because I know what can be on the other side of that. I would say it's very important.”

The Cowboys had the NFL’s No.1 ranked offense last season and finished sixth in points per game. Dallas missed the playoffs with an 8-8 record.
