AMAs 2011 Red Carpet: Selena Gomez, Heidi Klum Prove Metallics Ruled the Night [PHOTOS]

Last night's American Music Awards red carpet was ruled by metallics.

Some of the lovely ladies who donned the shimmering sheen included Selena Gomez, Heidi Klum, Jennifer Hudson, Vanessa Lachey, and Taylor Swift.

Selena Gomez was one of the stand-out fashionistas of the night in a liquid gold Giorgio Armani backless gown. The 19-year-old arrived with boyfriend Justin Bieber, who looked quite dapper with side-parted hair and a snazzy tuxedo. The couple exited the AMAs in a white vintage Rolls Royce. Talk about traveling in style.

Heidi Klum looked gorgeous in a laser cut silver mini dress. She sported purple undergarments that peeked through the slits.

Jennifer Hudson glowed in a silver Jenny Packham cowl neck dress. The singer, who recently lost 80 pounds, said that she is just now getting used to dressing for her new body.

As for the winners of the night, Taylor Swift tied Adele with three wins total. But Swift took home one of the biggest honors -- Artist of the Year.

This is like one of the craziest things that has ever happened to me, Swift said as she accepted the award. It was her second time winning the biggest honor of the AMAs.

Nicki Minaj took home two awards, including Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist, beating out Lil Wayne, and gave a smashing performance with DJ David Guetta of their new single Turn Me On.

Jennifer Lopez was one of the biggest hits of the night, after two performances and a grab at the win for Favorite Latin Music Artist.

Lopez, 42, writhed on stage in a flesh-colored, sequined body suit (a la Britney Spears circa 2000) while singing a medly of her newest hits, Until It Beats No More, Papi and On the Floor.

The Bronx native was extremely thankful for all of her blessings and made sure to highlight the important people in her life, including manager Benny Medina.

I want to thank God because it's been a really amazing year in so many ways, said Lopez in her acceptance speech. Lopez announced her divorce from singer Marc Anthony in July, which was one of the particularly trying moments of the year. It's been up and down and just exciting and overwhelming and so many things. I'm just grateful for all my blessings.
