‘Amazing Race’ Season 29 Winners: How Fans Are Reacting To Newest Champions
A winner was officially crowned and awarded a prize of $1 million on the Season 29 finale of “The Amazing Race.” However, some fans of the show aren’t very happy about which team actually took home the champion title.
Spoiler Alert: The ending of the Season 29 finale, “We're Going To Victory Lane,” is discussed below.
After starting the leg in first place, Brooke Camhi and Scott Flanary mainly stayed in that position throughout, arriving at the first task location at Chicagoland Speedway before the other teams. Despite initially getting frustrated when she was having trouble working as a member of a pit crew on a race car and telling Scott she couldn’t complete the task, Brooke managed to persevere, and she and Scott were the first to leave. From there, they remained in front of both Tara Carr and Joey Covino and London Kaye and Logan Bauer throughout the leg, at a Metro Station, collecting postcards at famous landmarks, at City Hall rooftop, Wrigleyville Dogs, and Wrigley Field. In the end, following a mistake by Tara and Joey when it came to finding the correct landmarks, and London and Logan when it came to taking a subway instead of walking to City Hall, Brooke and Scott arrived at the Finish Line in Milton Lee Olive Park first, winning the $1 million prize and the title of “Amazing Race” champions.

However, fans of the show have since taken to social media to express their upset over how the finale played out, mainly decrying that it wasn’t fair that Brooke and Scott won because of how Brooke often complained about the tasks she completed throughout the race, including in the final leg.
Others decried Brooke winning the money because of the help she received from fellow racers during various tasks throughout the season, all of whom were later eliminated.
Some however did congratulate Scott for the win, saying that while they weren’t happy Brooke was also a winner, they thought he deserved it because of how much he accomplished during the season, including conquering his fear of heights three different times, and for handling Brooke the way he did.
There hasn’t been any response from Brooke or Scott about the reaction to their win.
However, the fact that Brooke and Scott did win does mean they won’t be eligible to compete if an All-Stars season were to happen in either Season 30 or later, if the show is renewed beyond then. All-Stars teams can only be made up of competitors from earlier seasons that did not win the $1 million in the end, and there are already campaigns on social media for London and Logan, Tara and Joey, and others who were eliminated before the final, to be a part of such a season.
It is currently unclear if the upcoming 30th season would be an All-Stars one, though show creators Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri didn’t rule out the possibility in an interview with The Wrap, after they were pitched the idea of All-Star Strangers.

“We’re open to a lot of things. It’s really what is the best for the show. Everything’s open right now,” Doganieri said.
