Shortly after The New York Times implemented its new paywall, Amazon has announced a deal with the newspaper for Kindle users.

Kindle owners who subscribe to The New York Times via the e-reader will receive free access to the newspaper's website, Amazon said. The Kindle edition of the Times runs for $19.99 a month, which is the same price as the tablet subscription model The Times recently annouced.

While The New York Times is the best-selling newspaper currently offered on the Kindle, it is also the most expensive. Amazon has not said whether Kindle subscribers will receive the initial 99 cents per-week deal offered to subscribers of other plans. Amazon has also yet to announce when the Kindle users will be granted the free access.

So far, the reactions to The Times's paywall have been tepid, with many readers complaining about the complexity of the plan. The digital version of the Times delivered via Amazon's Kindle, however, remains one the company's best-selling products. We will have more info to share in the coming weeks, The Times wrote on Twitter earlier today.
