Amber Heard has shared a new photo of herself getting ready, but some social media users were not impressed and even accused the actress of posting a snap from 2019.
On Friday, Heard, who was named a L'Oréal spokesperson in 2018, tweeted a photo of herself getting her hair and makeup done as the cosmetics and skincare giant celebrates the 50th anniversary of its slogan "Because you’re worth it." In the photo, portions of the "Aquaman" star's blonde hair are wrapped around brushes as a team of hairstylists blow-dries her tresses.
"It takes an army (of hair brushes). BTS from @lorealparisUSA @loreal #lorealparis #50yearsofworth #worthit," Heard captioned the pic, without mentioning when the image was taken.
Some Twitter users mocked Heard for allegedly sharing a pic from 2019, posting side-by-side images of the actress before and after getting ready. "Not Amber Heard posting backstage photos from Sep 2019 w/L’Oreal to make it seem like she is relevant and working in 2021. Girl, your jewelry told on you," the person wrote.
Others were not impressed with the alleged final look, in which Heard sported blue eyeliner and slicked-back hair.
"I hate commenting about her looks, but I don’t even think this was her idea, that eye makeup is not flattering at all, looks so bad," one commented.
"The whole makeup look is flat and not flattering, there is literally no dimension, and then a very eye-catching messy eye look. I have a feeling they were going for Avant-garde artist look, but it just looks too blunt," another added.
Some mocked Heard over her tagging L'Oréal on the post, with one user claiming that the brand doesn't follow Heard and has not liked or reposted her post on Twitter and Instagram.
"She's constantly forcing an association, whether it's L'Oreal or CCRI. I don't know whether it's to make her look like she still has work, or whether she's touting for business. Doesn't she have an agent for this? At least then it would look less awkward when no one replies," another added.
However, fans of Heard showered the actress with love and support amid the criticism.
"queen of keeping a job," Eve Barlow commented, while another posted, "booked, busy on top of unbothered iktr."
"power to you, power to all of us! cause we’re worth it thank you for inspiring me everyday," a third user added.
"YOU are worth fighting for. Forever and always. Love you to the moon!" a fourth netizen wrote, as another commented, "You’re worth EVERYTHING!"
"l'óreal queen," another added.
In a follow-up post, Heard shared a video of herself talking about the famous L'Oréal tagline. "50 Years Of Worth is an anthem of action," she says in the clip. "It's an anthem of our power, our importance, our value, and a reminder that it's worth fighting for."
"Because you're worth it" is a statement coined by Ilon Specht, a 23-year-old female copywriter, in 1971 and has since become L'Oréal Paris' slogan. It has become symbolic with "empowering women of all ages and backgrounds to believe in their beauty and sense of worth," according to the brand's website.
Last year, L'Oréal posted a tribute for Heard on Instagram for its #WomenMakeCinema series in partnership with the Cannes Film festival.
