Amber Heard Responds To Claims She Is Blackmailing Johnny Depp
Amber Heard has responded to a report that claimed she has been manipulating and blackmailing her estranged husband Johnny Depp.
Depp’s estranged wife Heard has denied blackmailing claims that the actor’s friend Doug Stanhope has written in a column posted on The Wrap. The model’s lawyer Peter Sample has issued a letter to the said publication stating that it has released a report that contained "outrageous and defamatory false claims" about model and actress, People magazine reported.
Stanhope has written an article titled "Johnny Depp Is Being Blackmailed by Amber Heard – Here's How I Know” that was posted on The Wrap on Sunday. The stand-up comic claimed that he, along with the actor’s other friends, have witnessed how Heard has manipulated the “Alice Through the Looking Glass” star all throughout their relationship. He also recounted a revelation made by the actor that Heard has reportedly threatened to lie about Depp publicly if he did not agree to her demands.
Heard’s lawyer stated in the letter that the said allegations “are absolutely and unequivocally false.” Sample has also denied that Depp’s estranged wife “is now blackmailing him by telling about his domestic abuse.” The actress’ lawyer has even demanded the publication to retract Stanhope’s article.
The divorce proceedings for the former Hollywood couple has been full of drama. Heard filed for divorce from Depp on May 23. This was followed by claims that the actor has physically abused her during their relationship, as indicated in the same report. She has even submitted photos showing a bruised eye that she alleged was the result of Depp’s physical abuse. The court has granted the actress’ temporary domestic violence restraining order to keep Depp away from her.
Meanwhile, a source told E!News that the divorce drama has been “incredibly upsetting” for Heard. Despite the stress and difficult road ahead of her, the source stated that the model and actress believed that she is doing the right thing. "It has been very traumatic for her to finally speak out, but she needs to do what she can to protect herself,” the source added.
