An American Airlines jet from Miami to Kingston, Jamaica skidded across a runway in heavy rain and stopping just before the Caribbean Sea.

The Boeing 737-800 jet had 148 passengers on board and six crew members according to reports from The Wall Street Journal reported citing an airline spokesman.

According to the report there were no fatalities but many people are being treated fo9r broken bones and back pains.

The fuselage of the plane cracked, both engines broke off from the impact, and the left main landing gear collapsed.
