"American Horror Story" may have been treating fans to videos and photos from the upcoming second season, but none of them have really explained what horrifying antics will go down. Fortunately that has all changed. An in depth character list has been released to give viewers an idea of what to expect from the new characters when season two premieres on Oct. 17.

The new updated character list comes courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, and they are just as haunting as the photos the site previously released.

"American Horror Story: Asylum" is the second installment in the FX series. The new season differs from the old in that it will have all new characters, an all new location and even an all new time setting.

Season two is "largely set" in 1964, reports EW. Instead of the L.A. Murder House from season one, fans will be moving onto a institution for the criminally insane called Briarcliff, located in Massachusetts.

Jessica Lange

Formerly playing Southern (evil) bell Constance in season one of "American Horror Story," Jessica Lange will be tackling a complete opposite role this season -- Sister Jude. According to EW, Sister Jude is a nun who is "more sadistic than saintly."

Zachary Quinto

Playing Chad, a gay victim of the Murder House in season one, Zachary Quinto will now be playing Dr. Thredson. Quinto's character had some major conflicts with Lange's in season one, and it looks like that bickering will move on over to "Asylum." Dr. Thredson is a psychiatrist, and his "forward thinking ways conflict with Sister Jude's management style," explains EW.

James Cromwell

Possible Nazi and mutated humans. It doesn't look like James Cromwell's character, Dr. Arden, will be a good doctor in the new season. EW reports that Dr. Arden is behind "the Raspers," a new fright for season two. Raspers are mutated humans that inhabit the forest outside of the institution. Even worse is that the Raspers are former Briarcliff inmates that had experiments at the hands of Dr. Arden go wrong. Further more, EW teases that the new doctor may also have Nazi ties.

Lily Rabe

Returning from season one is Lily Rabe, who will now be playing sister Eunice, Sister Jude's second in command.

Joseph Fiennes

New to "American Horror Story" is Joseph Fiennes, who will be tackling the role of Monsignor Timothy O'Hare. Monsignor O'Hare is not an innocent man of God though. Besides being the object of Sister Jude's desire, the Monsignor is said to have "dark intentions."

Adam Levine And Jenna Dewan Tatum

Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine will not be singing a happy tune in "Asylum." Levine will play Leo, a newlywed married to Jenna Dewan Tatum's Teresa. Surprisingly these two are not inmates of the asylum, instead, Leo and Teresa are visiting the institution in modern-day. Unfortunately for Leo, he will draw the attention of season two's Rubber Man...Bloody Face. The honeymoon phase for the to won't last long after that.

Evan Peters

Long gone is the shaggy blonde hair and rubber suit that Evan Peters used to rock as Tate in season one. This season, Peters will be playing Kit, a new inmate at Briarcliff. So why is Kit being committed into the "Asylum?" He's accused of murdering his wife (Britne Olford), although Kit claims that she was abducted by something not human.

Sarah Paulson

Previously playing psychic Billie Dean in season one of "American Horror Story," Paulson will now be playing Lana, a lesbian journalist. Lana won't be exposing much though, because she is committed into Briarcliff by her girlfriend after almost exposing the dark secrets revolving around the institution.

Chloe Sevigny

New to season two, Chloe Sevigny will be playing Shelley, a nymphomaniac inmate at Briarcliff.

"American Horror Story: Asylum" premieres on FX on Oct. 17.
