‘American Horror Story’ Season 3 Spoilers: 4 Frightening New Promo Photos Released For 'Coven'

“American Horror Story” is certainly not skimping on the chills in season 3. Four new promo photos for the new season of the FX mini-series were released on social media … and they’ll definitely leave you with a shiver down your spine.

Leading up to the Oct 9. season premiere, the four photos mirror some sort of horror that was displayed in the string of teaser videos.

Promo Photo 1

“Our detention involves suspension,” reads the caption on one of the new promo photos. But “suspension” is not referring to the term that students are familiar with – being temporarily kicked out of school. Instead the photo shows three girls in black heels actually suspended in air, dangling above their desks.

The photo, which was posted on Facebook and Twitter, is similar to the teaser videos of “Detention” and “Staircase” which also featured girls floating in the air.

“This fall, hell hath no fury …,” teases the second promo photo for “Coven.” The poster, which is sepia-toned, shows a woman sitting in a chair in a long dress with her hair wrapped up. With dozens of medicinal-looking bottles in the background, the woman has a voodoo doll in one hand and a crocodile head next to her other. Viewers are immediately drawn to her seemingly scratched-out eyes … and the long snake tail coming out from under her dress.

Posted on Facebook and Twitter, the sepia photo mirrors the latest teaser video for “American Horror Story,” “Slither.” In “Slither,” a snake slowly enters a woman’s mouth until it fully disappears.

The third promo photo for “American Horror Story” was posted on social media site GetGlue.com and does not feature a caption. Like the “Slither” video, the promo poster shows a woman with her mouth open and what appears to be either a snake or a horn coming out of her mouth.

The fourth promo photo for “Coven” was also posted on GetGlue.com. The image features a girl in white suspended in air with five pins sticking out of different parts of her body. While the suspension may remind viewers of the “Detention” and “Staircase” video, the pins sticking out of her body recall the second teaser video, “Pins And Needles.”
