‘American Horror Story’ Season 4: Kathy Bates Talks About Her ‘Freak Show’ Character; Filming To Begin Mid-July
Ready for the next installment of “American Horror Story”? So are we! The hit FX mini-series is set to begin filming in mid-July, and fans are dying for any bit of scoop. Spoilers about the upcoming season, “Freak Show,” have been scarce, but actress Kathy Bates was able to give some juicy teasers to keep viewers on their toes.
Buzzsugar recently spoke with Bates while she was promoting her new movie, “Tammy.” The actress revealed while she’s signed on to appear in the fourth season of the FX show, “American Horror Story” fans know just as much as she does about the mysterious “Freak Show.”
“It’s in the late 1950s in Jupiter, Florida, and I know what my character looks like, but I don’t know anything else about her,” Kathy Bates explained. “In fact, I’ve just gone to costume fittings, and we’re still developing the character. I haven’t seen the script yet, and we start shooting in the middle of July, so time’s a-wastin’!”
While Bates didn’t go into detail about her character’s appearance, fans already know she is a performer in the freak show that Jessica Lange’s character runs. Specifics regarding the kind of performer she is have yet to be revealed, however it has been previously confirmed the actress will be working alongside “AHS” veteran Evan Peters and newcomer Michael Chiklis. Peters, who has been with the series since Season 1, will portray Bates’ son and fellow freak show performer. Meanwhile, Chiklis, who is best known for his role on “The Shield,” will be playing a “strong man” in the freak show and the ex-husband of Bates’ character. “American Horror Story” executive producer Ryan Murphy told TV Line in late June Chiklis’ character will not only share screen time with Bates, but with his on-screen wife played by Angela Bassett.
“American Horror Story: Freak Show” is speculated to premiere on FX in October. What are your thoughts on Season 4? Send your tweets to @AmandaTVScoop.
