‘American Horror Story’ Season 4 Spoilers: Episode 4 Synopsis Released Online; What Will Happen In ‘Edward Mordrake, Pt. 2’? [PHOTOS & VIDEO]

“American Horror Story” delivered an early Halloween treat for fans on Wednesday, Oct. 22 with episode 3, “Edward Mordrake, Pt. 1.” Viewers watched as the FX series introduced a new set of threats to the unsuspecting freak show – and the drama won’t end there. The Halloween terror will continue on Wednesday, Oct. 29 with episode 4, “Edward Mordrake, Pt. 2.”

For those that missed episode 3, Season 4 of “American Horror Story” welcomed Stanley (Denis O’Hare) and Maggie Esmerelda (Emma Roberts), a set of con-artists banking on making a quick buck off of the Juniper, Florida freaks. Maggie managed to manipulate her way inside the troupe by pretending to be a fortune teller. She told Elsa Mars (Jessica Lange) that a dark and mysterious man would appear before her and help bring her to stardom. Maggie was of course referring to her accomplice, Stanley, but their charade took an unexpected turn when Elsa met another mysterious man – Edward Mordrake (Wes Bentley).

Edward Mordrake was a folktale told by carnies. Legend has it that Edward Mordrake was an Englishman of noble birth – and had a second “demon” face on the back of his head. While no one could hear the second face talk, Edward Mordrake claimed that it would whisper evil things to him. The whisperings got so bad that Edward Mordrake tried to kill his second face on multiple occasions … however it wouldn’t die.

Edward Mordrake’s family eventually committed him to an institution. But Edward Mordrake broke out of the asylum – cutting the throat of the unfortunate guard that opened his door. After escaping, Edward Mordrake joined a freak show, billed as the “Two-Faced Prince.” But even then Edward Mordrake was unhappy. He supposedly snapped one day and murdered everyone freak in his group before hanging himself. The story goes that his spirit will return to take another freak to hell if any freak show dares to perform on Halloween night.

Edward Mordrake left Ethel Darling (Kathy Bates) in episode 3, but according to the synopsis for episode 4, he’ll continue “his search for a Freak to add to his ghostly coterie.” The promo shows the spirit paying a visit to Elsa Mars – but does she realize that he’s the carnie spirit that everyone fears? Or does Elsa believe that he’s the man that Maggie was referring to in her crystal ball reading?

Whether or not Elsa is aware of the situation remains unseen, but “American Horror Story” viewers will learn about her “grisly” past In Germany. Meanwhile, the rest of the troupe will be living in fear as Edward Mordrake searches for his victim. However Del Toledo has plans of his own – take out Edward Mordrake before he can get to anyone.

Fans can also look forward to the story of Twisty the Clown progressing. Dandy (Finn Witrock) doesn’t seem too happy in the episode 4 promo video, throwing a tantrum over someone “ruining” his Halloween – perhaps Twisty doesn’t want to share his clown game with Dandy anymore? Viewers will have to wait and see, but one thing is certain – “Jimmy and Maggie have a run-in with the Twisted Clown.”
