‘American Horror Story’ Season 4 Spoilers: Fourth Teaser Video Released; Does ‘Caged’ Hint At Denis O’Hare’s ‘Freak Show’ Character?
“American Horror Story: Freak Show” has struck again. A day after the third teaser video, titled “Spotlight” was released, a fourth trailer for the upcoming season has hit YouTube.
The latest promo for Season 4 is titled “Caged.” At 10 seconds long, the teaser doesn’t reveal too much about “Freak Show,” but a quick snippet at the end might hint at what Denis O’Hare’s character will have in store for the freak show performers.
Viewers are once again brought inside the red- and white-striped freak show tent in the fourth promo. But instead of a look at the performing side, fans are brought backstage. The sound of a bird followed by rattling accompanies an image of a female contortionist trapped in a bird cage. The shuffling inside stops when a man places his hand (tattooed to appear like bones) on top of the cage.
The teaser ends before “American Horror Story” fans can get a closer look at the mysterious man and his potential victim; however, a casting snippet from April may shed a little light.
As we previously reported, “AHS” veteran O’Hare will be returning for Season 4, but he won’t be a performer in the freak show. The 52-year-old actor previously portrayed a burn victim named Larry Harvey in the Season 1 “Murder House,” and a tongue-less servant named Spalding at Miss Robichaux’s Academy in Season 3, “Coven.” This time around he’ll be a “collector of freaks” going head-to-head with star Jessica Lange. The actress will be playing Elsa Mars, a German ex-pat running one of the last remaining freak shows in the United States.
“I’m going to be working at cross-purposes with her,” O’Hare told Vulture of his “Freak Show” role opposite Lang. “We have lots of scenes with each other, but we’ll be battling.”
While O’Hare’s character hasn't been officially labeled as a Season 4 “villain,” the “collector of freaks” doesn’t sound too promising for some of the “Freak Show” performers … like the caged contortionist in the fourth teaser trailer.
“American Horror Story” Season 4 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 10 p.m. EDT. What are your thoughts on the new promo video for “American Horror Story: Freak Show”? Tweet your thoughts to @AmandaTVScoop.
