American Idol contestant, Casey Abrams, hospitalized

During Thursday night's broadcast of American Idol it was obvious there was one contestant absent.

You'll notice that Casey is missing from the group. He is unfortunately sick and in the hospital right now. Wave to him ... We know you're watching, buddy, feel better - shout out to the nurses. Get back here soon, okay? said host Ryan Seacrest.

Casey Abrams impressed the judges, Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, the night before with a performance of Joe Cocker's With a Little Help From My Friends.

According to a report by People.com, Abrams suffers from ulcerative colitis. The condition causes abdominal pain and cramping.

Abrams, who is in a hospital in Los Angeles, received two blood transfusions Thursday night.

This is the second time the 20-year-old contestant was hospitalized during the singing competition. He visited the hospital in February after suffering intense stomach pains.
