'American Idol': Katy Perry Performs A Dance-Off With A Contestant [Watch]
Katy Perry performed a dance-off with a contestant named Thomas Patrick Moran on an "American Idol" episode, which was aired Sunday evening.
The official handle of the singing show shared a video on YouTube, featuring the audition and the dance-off between Moran and Perry, who is one of the judges on the show.
"My mom did Irish step and she kind of made us do some Irish step growing up," Moran told the judges. Perry immediately challenged Moran for a dance-off.
The two can be seen dancing while Moran's mother who accompanied him for the audition can also be seen entering the audition room and enjoying the performance.
After a while, Moran's mother also joined them on the stage. While judge Lionel Richie stood up to encourage the dance-off, another judge Luke Bryan joined them on the stage to dance.
Besides his dancing skills, Moran also impressed judges with his singing skills along with fans who praised him in the comments section of the video.
In the video, Richie praised the contestant for being an entertainer following his performance. "You are a natural-born entertainer, forget the singing, you are an actor, you are somebody’s host," Richie said, according to Music Mayhem.
"Thomas, I wholeheartedly disagree with my other judges, because I remember when I was 22 and I took a meeting with my now management and as I walked in I cartwheeled and landed in the splits," Perry said following his performance.
However, she explained that she eventually learned "how to bring it down, but know how to also have fun and light up a room and go on stage and river dance your reputation away. There is something there."
Moran received the "golden ticket" after the performance which means he will be going for the next round.
The contestant shared a photo of him with the ticket on Instagram and wrote, "THE NEWS IS OUT! YOUR BOY GOT A GOLDEN TICKET! Thank you to everyone who supported me through this! Words cannot express my gratitude. Stay tuned for some AMAZING talent!!!"
Perry has been judging the show since 2009.
