‘American Idol’ Season 15 Winner Trent Harmon Wants To Work With La’Porsha Renae On Debut Album, Thanks Fans For Support
Even though Trent Harmon beat out La’Porsha Renae for the “American Idol” win on Thursday’s Season 15 finale, the Mississippi native hopes to work with her in the near future. During an interview, Trent revealed that he and La’Porsha decided right before “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest announced the news that they would continue to support each other, no matter what happened.
“I said a little prayer right before and I told Porsha, I said, ‘Porsha whatever happens, let’s just hug. If they call your name or they call my name, let’s just hug and not even care what they say.’ And she agreed,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I told her, ‘Let’s go make an album! Let’s go make one together, you be on mine, I’ll be on yours, let’s do this. Let’s go to work!’”
He also commented on being the final “American Idol” winner, telling the outlet that he understands he’s now in the “bottom of the next level.” “I’m gonna keep that mindset until further notice,” he said.
According to USA Today, Trent is already gearing up for his debut album, which will have a country vibe. His “American Idol” win came with a recording contract with mentor Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine label.
“Mr. Scott said, ‘Trent, I think it would be a wise move for us to make a country album of sorts, a country album that is palatable to a lot of different people, because you can sing a lot of different things,’” he revealed.
Borchetta added, “We’re going to make, for lack of a better term, a Justin Timberlake country record.”
Throughout his time on the Fox show, Trent, 25, has always thanked his fans for their endless support and shared a sweet message to them Thursday night. “I love y’all so much. I worked hard, but y’all did this. All I did was show up and sing, and I appreciate you so much and I love you.”
