After hours of tension, America has gotten its two finalists to compete for the title of the American Idol season 8. They are Kris Allen and Adam Lambert.

The debate over who would get voted off was extremley tight between Allen and Gokey. Many observers thought Adam Lambert was going to make it to the finals, mostly since he began to perform in the show.

More than 88 million votes were cast, according to Ryan Seacrest. He said the two finalists were just 1 million votes ahead of each other.

Jordin Sparks, American Idol Season 6 winner performed her new single Battlefield and Katy Perry performed Waking up in Vegas, on the show Wednesday evening.

The grand finale will be next Tuesday to determine who wins the American Idol title.
