‘America’s Got Talent’ 12: Chase Goehring Almost Didn’t Make It To Finals
“America’s Got Talent” Season 12 brought another shocker when Chase Goehring was named as one of the contestants who got the lowest number of votes.
Following his performance on Tuesday night, judge Heidi Klum said that she loved Goehring’s original song since it contained rap. Mel B wasn’t as pleased with it though as she preferred Goehring’s first two performances.
On Wednesday, Goehring and magician Eric Jones fought for a spot in the grand finals with the help of the four judges. Three of them voted to keep Goehring in the competition, but Klum decided to give Jones her vote. Simon Cowell said that it was clear why Goehring was in the tough spot that night, since it seems America also preferred his first two original songs over his last two tracks. But in the end, Goehring still managed to make it through to the next round with four other acts.
Dog act Sara & Hero impressed the crowd and received enough votes to advance to the next round. She revealed that they only had five days to put their routine together since she just found out that she will be competing in the semifinals last week.
Magician Preacher Lawson also made it to the grand finals, and Cowell has predicted great things for him. The music mogul is also curious why Lawson hasn’t booked his own TV show yet because he is impressed by his talent and showmanship.
Mel B’s golden buzzer pick, Darci Lynne, also made it to the grand finals. The Spice Girls member told the 13-year-old ventriloquist that she has a sneaky feeling she could bring home the $1 million grand prize this season.
Also performing in the grand finals is 13-year-old singer Evie Clair, who Cowell said was in her element on Tuesday night. Clair’s dad is battling stage 4 cancer so he couldn’t watch his daughter’s performance live. But he still made an appearance during the episode in a throwback video of Clair and her siblings.
Unfortunately, roller skaters Billy & Emily England, singers Johnny Manuel, Yoli Mayor, Mike Yung and DaNell Damon & Greater Works did not make it past the semifinals.
“America’s Got Talent” Season 12 airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
