‘America’s Got Talent’ Season 12 Spoilers: Plane Crash Survivor Wows Judges With Ed Sheeran Song
A new contestant named Kechi Okwuchi will win the hearts of the judges and audiences in “America’s Got Talent” Season 12 on Tuesday night.
NBC just dropped a teaser for next week’s episode, and it featured Kechi singing her own rendition of Ed Sheeran’s hit song, “Thinking Out Loud.” But prior to her performance, Kechi first introduced herself as a Nigerian currently living in Houston, Texas.

Kechi, who has scars all over her face and body, told judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel that she was one of the only two survivors of a plane crash that took place in Nigeria several years ago. Despite her struggles, Kechi fought for her life, recovered and later pursued her passion in singing.
When she started singing “Thinking Out Loud,” the judges appeared to be still unsure of her talent. Some of the audience members started cheering her on, but it was only after she belted out her high notes that everyone realized how magnificent her tone really is. Cowell and Mandel gave Kechi a standing ovation, and Mel B and Klum did not stop clapping their hands until they were about to give her their comments. By the looks of it, Kechi will make it through to the next round.
Meanwhile, NBC also dropped an emotional yet hilarious teaser for “America’s Got Talent” Season 12. The 30-second clip opens with a contestant walking towards the huge X on stage. Mandel’s voice can be heard in the background saying, “As soon as you step on that X, your life will never be the same again.” Several contestants giving their all during the audition are also featured in the clip. An ecstatic Mel B gives one of them a resounding, “yes.” Cowell tells another contestant, “This is big!” But the touching teaser ends with Cowell making fun of one of the contestants who obviously did not impress him.
“America’s Got Talent” Season 12 already named two golden buzzer recipients: 12-year-old ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer and 29-year-old deaf singer Mandy Harvey. Both of them will be heading to the live shows in the coming weeks.
“America’s Got Talent” Season 12 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
