“America’s Got Talent” Season 3 winner Neal E. Boyd is fighting for his life after being involved in a serious car crash.

On Sunday, the opera singer and his 62-year-old mom, Esther R. Boyd, were driving in Scott County, Missouri, when Boyd ran off the road and crashed into a tree at around 8:45 a.m. EST. He and his mom were rushed to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. According to BET, the singer wasn’t wearing his seatbelt during the incident.

Boyd won the $1 million grand prize in “America’s Got Talent” Season 3 back in 2008. A few weeks later, he headlined a show in Las Vegas. He also released an album, “My American Dream,” in 2009. A year later, he performed for then-president Barack Obama when he visited Missouri. Unfortunately, after two years of being active in the industry, Boyd seemingly went on a long break. No information about his new songs or tours have been posted on his official website.

Meanwhile, several talented individuals have been shot to fame after performing in and winning the hit NBC reality TV competition. Most recently, 13-year-old Grace Vanderwaal won the same cash prize and received the same privileges as Boyd after her successful stint in Season 11. Vanderwaal also headlined four successful shows in Las Vegas. She has also released her EP, “Perfectly Imperfect,” which ranked number one on iTunes.

“America’s Got Talent” Season 12 is now looking for new talents to be featured on the show starting this summer. The producers and staff of the show have visited Chicago, Austin, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Philadelphia and Las Vegas. Other cities where auditions will also be held include New York, Charleston, Memphis and Los Angeles.
