‘America’s Next Top Model’ Season 24, Episode 4 Recap: Rhiyan’s Post-Elimination Interview
Tuesday night’s “America’s Next Top Model” proved its episode title, “Beauty Is Drama,” true, when the models had to participate in both an acting challenge and a photoshoot inspired by the FX series “American Horror Story.” Plus, the drama continued when Liz decided that she couldn’t handle living in the house with the other models and she outright quit the VH1 series.
Once Liz left, host Tyra Banks made it known that there would still be an elimination, which was unfortunate for Rhiyan, who ended up being the one cut at the end of the episode because she couldn’t quite get it right during the photo session.
“I don’t even know, trying to get myself to look scared...I just can’t do it,” she told judge Drew Elliott in her exit interview about what went wrong during the shoot. “I was just sitting there, I was backstage, I was like, ‘Come on, y’all, help me do this.’ Everybody was like, ‘Okay.’”
But in the end, the help she got from others wasn’t enough to come out on top and instead, she found herself in the bottom two with Coura and then eventually as the one being eliminated. Even so, looking back on the reality show, she said that she didn’t find it to be scary because there was a reason for everything that would happen.
“Throughout the entire competition, my mindset was, ‘Whatever happens, happens for a reason, so I only go as far as I’m supposed to make it,” she told Elliott. “So, I just feel like, God put me in this position for a reason and I feel like I made it as far as I’m supposed to go.”
The main aspect she took issue with, though, was her living conditions, as she wasn’t used to being “around so many personalities” in such close quarters.
“It was just so hard for me because it’s like, someone’s screaming over there, someone talking about ‘You stole my oranges,’ someone talking about someone’s man,” she said. “I’m just like, ‘Oh my God, this is a modeling competition, focus on modeling.’ So, I’m just like, ‘Y’all too much for me.’ So I was just in my own little corner trying to focus.”
Of the other contestants in the house, Rhiyan revealed that Christina is the messiest, drama-wise, and Jeana is the messiest, organization-wise. She said “her make-up is everywhere, her hair is everywhere” and all of Jeana’s belongings were all over the place.
At least, just like Liz who left, now Rhiyan doesn’t have to deal with the house drama anymore.
Find out who will be the next one eliminated from “America’s Next Top Model” when a new episode airs Tuesday, Feb. 6, on VH1 at 8 p.m. EST.
