‘Among Us’ Has A ‘The Floor Is Lava’ Mod – Here’s How To Play It

“Among Us” players are introducing more and more fresh twists to the popular and relatively simple multiplayer game. Some like to play it as is, but others prefer using custom game modes and mods that up the excitement factor. Two of these mods bring the childhood classic game “The Floor is Lava” to “Among Us.”

Every kid knows how to play some iteration of “The Floor is Lava.” In this game, players need to avoid stepping on or falling to the ground, or “lava,” at all costs and use everything else that isn't the floor to move around and survive. At home, the raised platforms can be couches, chairs, tables and so on. Those who step on the floor while avoiding the player designated as “it” is eliminated or becomes “it” the next round.

Two known modders, Socksfor1 and SSundee, each created a mod that brings the rules of “The Floor is Lava” into “Among Us.” In both mods, lava will fill up the game’s map and will require Crewmates to stand on platforms to survive. Impostors are immune to the lava, but they will be discovered if the Crewmates see them walking on the red-hot deadly liquid as if they’re taking a stroll in the park.

As of now, only the two modders and their friends have access to the mods. ScreenRant noted, however, that it might not be long before some other modder creates the same mod and releases it to the public.

Socksfor1’s “The Floor is Lava” mod

In Socksfor1’s mod, lava will fill up the game map once every 30 seconds, killing any Crewmate who gets hit by the rise of lava. A timer is shown at the lower-left side of the screen, telling Crewmates when there’s still time to finish a task or not. The lava will disappear after a while.

Impostors do not have control of the lava flow, but they can still sabotage areas to trap Crewmates in as the lava flows. It is pretty much another wicked way to kill.

SSundee’s “The Floor is Lava” mod

In SSundee’s mod, Impostors have control of the lava and can command the red-hot molten rock to fill a particular area. Up to two Impostors have this ability in addition to the basic Sabotage and Kill, making it easier for them to eliminate Crewmates.

At the start of each round, three players will be tasked with putting down props that will serve as platforms in different areas of the map.
