"Among Us," the 2018 hit online multiplayer social deduction game developed by Innersloth is getting a one-shot manga feature, bringing the game a step closer to a potential anime adaptation.
The exciting news was shared on Twitter by "Among Us" developer Innersloth on Thursday. "Surpriseeeee! @AmongUsGame will have a 1 shot manga feature in Bessatsu Corocoro magazine on April 2022," the official Twitter account of the gaming studio announced.
For those unaware, Bessatsu CoroCoro is a Japanese manga anthology releasing bi-monthly and has made video games into manga. Some of its works include a couple of "Sonic" series -- namely "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Dash & Spin Super Fast Sonic."
The magazine is mainly designed for elementary school children with manga usually based on toys, anime and games. Unfortunately, details beyond the release window of "Among Us" manga, including its author and the number of chapters it would release are still unknown.
In terms of the manga's plot, it is hard to say at this point. The online social deduction game does not really have a specific story. It is a party video game where players have to find out the imposter among them.
Fans are curious as to whether the manga creator would assign the characters with a new name or if they will stick with their colors. It is interesting to know where the manga would be set, considering that the social deduction game has several expansions and has introduced a lot of locations, including the Skeld and the Airship.
Additionally, fans are also wondering if "Among Us" would soon have an anime adaptation, considering that "Animal Crossing" was a well-received anime film. All of those depend on Innersloth and fans' reception of the one-shot manga.
Also, while Innersloth already confirmed that the one-shot manga would debut in April, it has not confirmed if the release would be exclusive to Japan or if fans in other regions would also have the chance to get a hold of it.
"Among Us" is currently playable on various gaming platforms, including PC via Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, iOS and Android devices. The social deduction game was released in June 2018 but became a phenomenal game during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
