‘Among Us’ Tips: How To Play New ‘Engineer’ Role
KEY POINTS
- "Among Us" fans have created mods and new game modes adding spice to the game
- A new mod adds an "Engineer" to the deception game
- The Engineer plays on the side of the Crewmates and monitors certain locations in the game
“Among Us” players continue to spice up the hit hide-and-seek deception game with custom modes and mods meant to add a few more interesting mechanics to the multiplayer title’s simple rules. One of these mods adds a new “Engineer” role to the game.
The “Engineer Role” mod was created by a modder named King for a player and creator named SSundee, ScreenRant reported. The new role plays on the side of the Crewmates, helping to even the odds in “Among Us.” With the Engineer’s addition, Impostors will find it more difficult to hide their tracks when killing their targets.
Unlike the Sheriff role introduced via an earlier mod, Engineers do not have the power to kill Impostors. What Engineers do is help Crewmates monitor certain locations in the game discreetly so that Impostors can be caught either in the act of killing an innocent Crewmate or hiding and traveling inside vents.
The Engineer has some extra skills to help accomplish their goals.
First, Engineers have the “Shock” skill that lets them electrocute any character they suspect to be an Impostor. Those who get hit by the ability will be stunned for a few moments, giving Engineers time to run away.
Of course, the skill can electrocute Crewmates as well. While the ability can help prevent an untimely Impostor kill, it can also spell doom for Crewmates with Impostors behind them.
Second, they have “+Camera” and “Camera” abilities. These two work together.
By clicking on “+Camera,” the Engineer can set up hidden cameras in different places. And by clicking on “Camera,” Engineers can use the stationed cameras to see what’s happening in the location where they are placed. Engineers remain stationary while using the Camera ability, so they have to be careful.
Third, there’s the “Drone” skill. As the name implies, this ability lets Engineers turn into drones so they can go to different locations and see what’s happening. Drones can pass through walls but can get glitched and stuck inside walls when the ability’s timer runs out. If a drone gets stuck inside a wall, it cannot be killed by an Impostor.
Lastly, there’s the “Complete” ability. This lets Engineers complete their tasks instantly while in drone form. It helps Engineers stay anonymous.
Only one Engineer will be randomly chosen at the start of the game. Impostors and Crewmates alike will not know who they are unless the Engineer reveals their identity. This should be done carefully so Impostors will not make them a priority target.
