Katy Perry and Russell Brand won't be making it into the new year as a couple, as days before 2012 began Brand announced that he is divorcing Perry.

Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage, Brand said Friday. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends.

Reports are that he cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.

Rumor has it that the two called it quits on their marriage because Perry pressured Brand into filing for divorce because they marriage was already falling apart and she didn't want to offend her evangelical parents by being the one to start the proceedings.

Other reports stated that Brand decided to leave Perry because he was tired of her party girl lifestyle, leaving Perry blindsided.

Jennifer Lopez also called it quits with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and began dating her backup dancer, Casper Smart.

Kim Kardashian married basketball player Kris Humphries, in August only to divorce him 72 days later.

Kobe Bryant lost his wife of more than 10 years, Vanessa, reportedly thanks to cheating.
