Director Andrew Dominik opened up about his upcoming project, Marilyn Monroe's biopic titled "Blonde," and noted that it is going to be like the classic movies, the 1980s' "Raging Bull" and 1940s' "Citizen Kane."

"Blonde is a movie for all the unloved children of the world," the 54-year-old director told Collider in an interview published Monday. "It’s like Citizen Kane and Raging Bull had a baby daughter."

The director went on to explain that the "whole idea of Blonde was to detail a childhood drama and then show the way in which that drama splits the adults into a public and private self."

"And how the adult sees the world through the lens of that childhood drama, and it’s sort of a story of a person whose rational picture of the world as being overwhelmed by her unconscious, and it uses the iconography of Marilyn Monroe," he added.

"Raging Bull" is a sports drama biopic that centered around professional boxer Jake LaMotta's real-life events. "Citizen Kane," on the other hand, was a mystery drama that was never announced as a story based on true events but fans speculated that it was based on businessman William Randolph Hearst's life.

Considering the upcoming biopic, "Blonde" is based on Monroe's real-life events with actress Ana de Armas portraying the lead character. The flick is slated to release on Netflix this year.

During the interview, the director also noted that he was never "bored" of thinking about the "Blonde" movie as it happened with his other movies.

"I mean, there’s other sh-t that you can do and you just can’t be f--ked thinking about it. It’s boring," he noted. "Or you think about it for a while, 'wow, this is good,' and then you get bored with it, but Blonde never did."

"It’s probably because the story is connected somehow to how I’m personally wounded, do you know what I mean? And I think the [wound] is kind of the source of all that stuff," he added. "It’s the source of what moves you creatively. So I don’t know, mate, I mean, I’ve just been obsessed with it for years."

Besides "Blonde," Dominik will also direct movies like "War Party" and "Sturlungar."
