Android 10 Release Date Leaked: Download Rollout Starts Today
Android 10—the biggest update to Google‘s mobile operating system may be unveiled on September 3.
This follows a leak about the Android 10 or Android Q roll out date updated by Canadian carrier Rogers.
A tech media highlighted the date mentioned on its website that pegged the launch date of Android 10 to be September 3.
There is logic too--traditionally Google releases Android versions at the start of September with many security patches.
This year, the first Monday of September happened to be Labor Day in the United States and Google opted for the day after.
In Rogers’ parlance, the launch of “Q OS” (Android 10) will apply to all mobile Pixel brands owned by Google on Sept. 3.
They will include Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, and Pixel 3a XL who may get the Android 10 update on September 3.
Roger is considered a reliable source for tech updates.
The leak looks reliable since Google also said during the release of the final beta for Android 10 in early August that the public release was “just a few weeks away.” It was to be the biggest update in the 11-year history of Android.
However, it is certain that all versions of the Pixel, Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 will get the first wave of the new mobile operating system.
Manufacturers like Samsung and Sony who are using Android may receive the new OS in the coming weeks.
Foldable to dark mode make new features
Android 10 is considered revolutionary as it will sail in with many ultra-new features.
“As we continue to build Android for everyone in the community, our brand should be as inclusive and accessible as possible,” Google said in a blog post.
Android 10 may also include support for foldable phones, making sure the interface works seamlessly between different screen shapes.
Number-based new versions: Departing from the practice since 2008 Google will stop naming new versions after sweets or desserts.
That is why the successor to Android Pie will be Android 10.
Logo change: The logo’s color will change from lime green to black and only the top half of the robot’s head will be visible on the logo.
Dark mode: The system-wide dark mode will help users to switch it on and off directly from the Quick Settings menu.
Back button to go: The removal of the back button will be a major highlight. Alongside the Home and app tabs, the back button has been a staple of the Android OS since its existence.
The back button’s removal will be compensated by gesture-based navigation requiring users to swipe the screen left or right to go back.
Going forward, users on the latest Android 10 beta, or Android 9, would receive an update notification on the Pixel once Google has made the final version ready for download.
